Eat that up, it's good for you
May. 28th, 2010 01:42 amJust came back from Singapore. The difference in efficiency and cleanliness is really so glaring, especially when you come from a third world country, like I do. This always happens when I travel abroad, this "The Philippines is a sad, sad place" thing. When I'm abroad, I can't seem to stop grumbling about how the Philippine government screwed things up royally for, what, the last twenty, thirty years? So sad.
Anyway, I don't mean to sound like such a party-pooper! Singapore = shopping! I went with my mom and sister for some retail therapy.

Seriously, the only tourist spot we got to see was the Merlion, (and the Esplanade, at the back.) Materialism is a bad, bad compulsion that can keep one in airconditioned malls or dusty markets even though there are other sights to be seen.

Lame, I know, that chicken wings was my favorite meal out of the whole trip. I'm kind of a self-proclaimed chicken/buffalo wing connoisseur, and this just plain kicked ass. One of the best that I've tasted :-D

The one thing I really appreciated were the trees, the whole green feel of Singapore. It's obvious that it's really part of their city planning.
I won't bore you with the shoes and the dresses, too many of those, these are the purchases I really love:

Pokemon: yes, I'm a dork; everyone needs at least 2 terabytes of storage in their lives; goggles because the pool is calling out to me

Some of the stuff I bought at Kinokuniya. A novel that I've been wanting to read, and Taro Gomi books, which I snapped up because it's always out of stock here in Manila. EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THE JOY OF TARO GOMI COLORING BOOKS. I bought these two on top of the other two I already finished before. What a cheap high <3

It's not just a coloring book; it has prompts like this: "Draw a dead person"

I know, boo me. It's just that they haven't released a proper English-subbed DVD box of Maou; for Jin either. I have a blatant love for these two dramas, point me to English-subbed original DVDs and I'll gladly shell out the money. Sorry for the cheap pricetag on your forehead, Oh-chan.

I was sold on the macaron keychain from the get go.

Lyle, Sean, Nina = math study group/trio back in highschool. Mostly we never learned much because we were always laughing about dumb things like Bo Sanchez's poses in Kerygma, lol. Had drinks with friends at Distillery last night, Lyle and I bumped into Sean whom we haven't seen in years!
Singapore was fun, but it's always great to be back in Manila. :D
