Housezilla porn

I'm a little bit of a design geek, when it comes to interiors and furniture. Back in CSA, when there was that comprehensive Guidance Office test to assess what careers we were compatible with, I got designing/ architecture as #1. Writing/ journalism just came second, which really surprised me. I've always been an aesthete, I like pretty things, I like referential things, I like concepts...but it just surprised me that I'd actually be compatible with it; it was always just a side interest. Anyway, that's history, I ended up taking Communication Arts anyway.
But still, I haven't outgrown it. I still frequently salivate over really gorgeous pieces of furniture. And nothing awes me more than a beautiful house that looks lived in, with beautiful pieces incorporated and a lot of personal touches here and there. That said, my definition of beautiful is subjective...I can't define it, but I just know that I like something the moment I see it, and I die. Like, I'm jealous, inspired...and amazed, all at once. I don't have technical design words at my disposal, or certainly, art history and criticism under my belt, and I won't pretend to do so. It's just that I like what I like. No excuses!
Some pictures from my folder. Yes, if boys have their secret porn folder, I have my design porn folder. I stalk design blogs and save pictures that get me dreaming. If you hate long posts on your friends list...umm. Delete me? :D

Tokujin Yoshioka's Paper Cloud Sofa
This, I am perpetually in love with. This might be my favorite furniture of all time, seriously.
Like truly, madly, deeply...
Seriously.

Lovely Missoni pattern!

I just WANT this seating area.
Bedroom Area

The lamps and the walls are just gorgeous!!!

Love the linen design with the unfinished wood.
And oh that paper thingiemajig at the wall, so cute

I love this overall, but admittedly, it's the skull pillow and the disheveled walls that got me.
And oh. That god-awesome lamp

LOVE THIS. I'm a sucker for white linen and unfinished wood.
Oh, I've said that already.

Lovely room! Great wallpaper, and that ivory paneled mirror. Le sigh
Other Spaces

Work space/ dining area. I love the floor finish. Sets off the room

Outdoor area. Good for reading early in the morning, or with a case of beer in the middle with friends at night
LOVE THIS. Check out the giganto candle

Brick wall in the kitchen!
I don't like wallpapers in that room.

I wouldn't do it exactly the way this room was done, but I like how it's personal & quirky.
I don't like over-designed houses, sometimes it's just better to throw together random personal things, like your house as a sum of all your parts as a person. :)
And great layout too! Booksheeeeelves!!!

I know this isn't house-y, but it's where I roam in my dreams. HARHAR.
Maison Martin Margiela's concept of interior design, a replica of their Paris headquarters where all the brainstorming happens.
Titled Mat, Satiné, Brilliant, it just gives fans like me shivers

Another angle. It reeks of irony, and I love that the furniture is swathed in cloth.
The hanging chair. *weeps*

It's not enough that they make great clothes, accessories, and shoes, they also have to be genius with interiors too.
Even if it's just a branding exercise, for now.
The fake door! ARGH
THERE IS NO END TO THE LOVE I HAVE FOR Margiela, and all Margielic things.

Wouldn't this be perfect for a Tagaytay getaway house?

Too shabby chic for me, it's been done. But I like the chair for sure!
I think I'll replace those gilded mirrors with art, and have a sturdier, darker, and more conceptual coffee table.
And paint the door a lighter shade of black

I love charming lanais.

So clean and spacious. I love it like this.
But I'll love it better when it's cluttered with art and personal knickknacks.
More fun that way!
Random things

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
Now that's what I call an aparador. Super ganda, can't get over

Pinocchio rugs! They are so cute. Super duper.

These might just entice my mom to say, "What the fuck?"
HAHAHA! Well, she won't say that. But she'll think that.
I think they're swell :D

PERFECTION.
I want to keep my jewelry in this. Just have it velvet-lined inside.
Isn't it such a quaint and smart piece?

Reading rug! Weeee~

I can live without the birdcage, but the pillows! So cute!
I love that they look like burlap sacks.
Or are they burlap sacks (???)
I think I need to stop. Getting a little headache too. :|
But it was fun looking through all the pictures I've amassed. Design porn is where it's at, I'm telling you. And I'm really definitely going to be a housezilla, as in, mapili sa lahat. I pity my future husband, and the architect and interior designers we're going to hire, really.

Light Fixtures

Cool Margiela lamps!

This is so goddamn pretty and surreal.
Kind of like bubbles stuck together...it makes for such a great look.
It would look stunning on a foyer

I just find this interesting. Love it

That knit cover is such a neat, neat idea.
It's a charming addition, don't you think?
Chairs / Sofas

Quite ubiquitous, but for a reason.
Amazing design by Philippe Starcke

I totally want to own a set of these instead of those fugly white monobloc chairs.
Aren't they functional and awesome looking?

I'm a sucker for polka dots. Especially black and white ones.

Got to love your own. One of Kenneth Cobonpue's great designs, he's an amazing Filipino designer
