nunuuuThank god you're safe, Machi.
My blood froze when I got the call. Machi crashed her car into a wall, sidetracked by a swerving 10-wheeler. Her black X3 was a total wreck. I assumed the worst. And what's more, her parents are in Vienna on vacation, they're arriving tomorrow. How they must be feeling...I can't imagine. Machi's now in Asian Hospital, and just until two hours ago, she was in a critical state. Right now, she's still out of it, that is to say, unconscious, but she's stable. She has bruises all over her body, some scars and horrible gashes from glass fragments, and her legs are...a mess. Not yet sure if it could be rehabilitated, it was that particular body part that got the brunt of the impact. Dear god, please let her walk again.
Sometimes the world just knocks some sense to you in an instant, in a moment. You don't own the earth, you don't own your life (just in case you were getting any illusions), everything could be taken away from you before the moment you could even start to protest. Perhaps, that's the reason why fight to live with our outmost best, with every passion we could muster, in the most heartfelt sincerity our hearts could possible feel every single day. At least, we try to. Because we're just here for a blink of an eye, in the grand scheme of things. In that momentariness, everything about ourselves, our lives, are rendered insignificant. With our little voices, our seemingly inconsequential actions, we try and combat the inevitable truth: that in the end, it doesn't really matter. Our life doesn't matter.
But I don't want to think that way. Life is precious. Every single word, action, and thought exists because we chose for it to exist. Every breath is something to cherish, and make use of.
