Get yours at this odd Kabalarian Philosophy name study website. "Your name creates your life." Interesting, but in the end, scarily determinist, and puts the control all in the hands of our dear dear dear parents and whatever name they set their hearts on at that time. I have friends whose names are a combination of their mom and dad's names, (Marlina= Mario+Lina) maybe that's a distinctly Filipino trait. Then there's Phoebe, whom if I remember right, was named after Phoebe Cates. (Just like 3 other Phoebes my age I've met. What can we do, 1988 was probably her peak year or something, and too early for FRIENDS, not that people would actually name their kids after a promiscuous yet adorable hippie character who is totally meant to be with Joey! Right? Right?) Actually, my second name, Faye, was because of Tweetie De Leon's character in that TV show with Vic Sotto, Okey Ka Fairy Ko which led to those recent and abysmal insults-to-the-Filipino-audience's-general-IQ movies. Read: Enteng Kabisote. Umm gee, thanks for the great pop culture reference, mum. But yeah, I've never hated my name, nor did I think it was particularly unique or pretty. Nina ha, not Janina, because I haven't been called that in ages. In hindsight, Janina sounds more like a grown-up, pulled together person. But yeah. Nina is just, it's just...me, and it's also just...a name. Which might be the whole point of this philosophy. The second to the last point actually strikes home... Maybe I should make a mantra out of this: Go beyond the confines of your name!

Meh. Bear with me, I just can't seem to drift off to sleep!!!
