the sordid way those loaded phrases infiltrate your skull

These are some of my favorite Preview covers. For those who don't live in Manila, Preview is a local fashion magazine here in the Philippines. It caters to a more high fashion (albeit admittedly more mainstream and trend-biased) set of readers. Trendy is not something I usually like, but this magazine is superb in the way it presents and interprets trends - everything is so tasteful and impeccable. They also pay a lot of attention to every issue's art direction, and consistenly maintain their very own Preview-ness, when it comes to the magazine's appearance (the typeface, layout and all.) Honestly, it's the only local fashion magazine I bother with. Other local fashion magazines are so lacking in taste and/or trying to be too hip, taking too much cues from Nylon and as such, making it really unbearable to read. So in my book, Preview rules. :)

Just because it's Bianca Gonzales. She's so beautiful! Hands down the prettiest Filipina celebrity for me.

Love this cover.

Wonderful styling! I remember really having a bad crush on that coat

I mean, who knew Kim Chiu can rock clothes like these, yes?

Love love love the styling. Plus I'm a fool for anything black and white.

So why am I harping on and on about Preview? That's because I got the internship gig! Under Liz Uy, the fashion editor.

It's been pretty surreal. Just last week, I read Liz Uy's tweet: "Who CAN intern for Preview? Please DM me and attach your CV. I need someone organized, fluent in fashion lingo, efficient, and can do heels!" I thought, what the hell, I can do heels (haha that part stood out for me!) I'll just pass my CV. Just for kicks. Then yesterday was the interview. It was a panel interview kind of thing, Liz Uy, along with Raymond Gutierrez and Daryl Chang, who all looked monumentally chic and scary, took turns in asking me questions. They were friendly, but I thought I kind of bombed the interview, I just had that feeling. Felt like I was all over the place, blabbed on about fashion like I just took a hit five minutes before I stepped into the interview, that kind of blabbering. Then this morning, on my first free day after the LONGEST while, Liz Uy calls me to say that I'm in. Oh dear you should've felt my heartbeat. I just woke up and Liz Uy calls me. Surreal! I'm an intern in my favorite local fashion magazine! I can't wait for my fashion slavery to start. (I pray I won't get bored and/or disillusioned. I just have a feeling. But no, will not think that.)

So there.

Say hello to my very chic boss. :)
